Tax Proposal

Tennessee legislature has introduced a bill that calls for a tax swap by lowering the sales tax and raising the cigarette tax. Governor Bredeson opposes lowering the sales tax but agrees with raising the cigarette tax.

Study on Daycares

A new study by the National Institute of Heath concludes that daycares are linked to bad behavior later in life.

In the Grand Canyon, they have built an overlook that has nothing under it. It is made of glass. It has a 10' walkway with 5 layers of glass for the floor.

Harold Ford Jr. has announced that he will stay in politics. He might run in the next Governor's race.

High School Coach Caught with Drugs

Baseball coach at John S. Battle High School , Danny Cullop, was suspended for possession of drugs. He had it in the school parking lot.

End of TV As We Know It

We may lose TV as we know it. Starting in 2009. The government is quitting analog TV and everyone will have to buy a digital box for TV.

House Plan to Withdraw Troops by 2008

Some Democrats in the house are introducing a new plan to withdraw all troops by 2008. All Republicans are opposing the plan. But some Democrats think it doesn't come soon enough.

I-181 Becomes I-26

Starting next week I-181 in Kingsport will become I-26. All exit signs will be changed with one starting in Kingsport going all the way to the state line. TDOT will change 284 signs.

New Dollar Coins

This week introduces the new Presidential Dollars. They replace the Sacagawea Dollars.
