Heavy Snow in the Tri-Cities
As all of you may know there was a huge snow storm over the weekend. A total of six inches fell on the first day at WKID 6, and the snow hasn’t melted a bit.
The snow had many effects on people’s daily lives. Over the weekend there were over 3,000 car wrecks on the interstate highways, and it wasn’t until yesterday that the roads were clear.
Lack electricity was also a big problem in the region. Appalachian Power says that over 21,000 people are without power in Southwest Virginia. Thousands more are in the dark in East Tennessee. In Carter County a substation went out and power to the area was only restored just this morning. Some people’s power may not be restored by the end of the week. Some areas also are without telephone or water due to the storm.
