Vick Returns to the NFL

After serving 18 months in prison on dog fighting charges, the former NFL star Michael Vick has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. It is a controversial decision but the Eagles say that everyone deserves a second chance.

Eastman Chemical Discharge

On Wednesday morning there was an accidental discharge of chemicals at Eastman into the Holston River. It was caused by the over-pressurization of a process reactor. Over 7000 pounds of unpronounceable chemicals were leaked into the river. Only about 12 fish were reported dead, and Eastman doesn’t expect any other damages to the environment in connection with the leak.

Southwest Virginia Earthquake

An earthquake registering 2.5 on the Richter scale shook Scott County yesterday morning. The epicenter was near Nickelsville. Although it was too small to cause damages, residents could certainly feel the shaking.
